   Maya Krauss first opened her boutique on South Congress in 1995. She grew up in a family that was passionate about travel and art and her parents were heavily involved in both imports and clothing design. With this background, Maya was able to open Antigua at the age of 25 and brought to South Congress a variety of folk art, antiquities, jewelry, and gifts. As the neighborhood began developing into one of the most eclectic and iconic destinations in Austin, Antigua also began to evolve, carrying more jewelry and clothing and moving away from antiques. The store eventually became Maya Star in 2006.
   As a jewelry designer herself, Maya has extensive knowledge of metals and gemstones as well as the processes of making the highest quality jewelry. She travels all over the world to find designers with unique points of view and a passion for craftsmanship and quality. All of the jewelry in the store is hand-selected by Maya with a focus on representing independent artists. The variety of interesting and beautiful jewelry options ensures there will be something to fit every taste and personal style.
   Maya used her attention to detail in choosing jewelry and gifts when she began carrying clothing in 2006. The boutique now showcases a diverse collection of clothing options with a focus on dresses for every occasion. Maya's taste relates to a number of different styles from classic to trendy and the clothing represents this with options for every age, shape, and budget.
   Today, Maya Star has gained a reputation as one of the top boutiques in Austin and the go-to destination for distinctive clothing, gifts, and jewelry.
